Scholarly Podcasts
WLU Press publishes scholarly podcasts in partnership with Amplify as part of the Resonate stream of peer-reviewed podcasts. Publication under the Resonate stream serves as professional attestation that the podcast has undergone a university press-led editorial process, a formal peer review, in-house publishing design, publication distribution, and promotion.
Peer Reviewed Scholarly Podcasts
Embracing the spirit of open scholarship and publishing, the WLU Press scholarly podcast peer review process is an open peer review. In this context, ‘open’ means that the podcasters and the peer reviewers know one another’s identities from the outset and they are at liberty to strike up a conversation about the podcast after the submission of the peer reports, generally written in a conventional manner to satisfy the various internal editorial and administrative needs of a university press. Podcasters are actively encouraged to discuss with the senior editor concerns relevant to the work, such as intended listenership and scholarly communities related to the work prior to the establishment of a shortlist of reviewers, a list to which podcasters are also encouraged to contribute. Peer review questions have been honed over time by Senior Editor Siobhan McMenemy, in collaboration with scholars, podcasters, and peer reviewers over several years and continue to be shaped by the unique nature of each podcast series.
