Abstract
The mission of the Church can be understood only in the context of our time. This context is one of skepticism and failed idealism; of egocentricity, of religious pluralism and secular religion. The needs confronting the Church are re-evangelisation, the challenge of new conservatism and the issues of human rights and social justice. The opportunities for mission in Canada call for a reassertion of Biblical and confessional theology, i.e., a theology of grace, of Word and Sacrament, of the Church and of worship. The opportunity of Lutheran merger is one we must now seize as we carry forth the Church's mission in the '80's.
